The American Institute of Architects North Carolina Chapter (AIANC) Firm of the Year Award is given to a North Carolina firm that has consistently produced quality architecture with a verifiable level of client satisfaction for a period of at least 10 years as an established presence in this state. This award is the highest honor the Chapter can bestow upon a firm. This year, AIANC was pleased to present the Firm of the Year Award to LS3P.
Founded in 1963 by Frank Lucas, the LS3P founder sought out to follow a simple goal “To engage our clients and communities, to design meaningful places, with proven results that transform.” The firm has grown from a one-man office into a thriving firm with over 300 employees across eight offices in three states. A series of strategic mergers over the years has greatly expanded the firm’s portfolio, expertise, and geographic reach.
The editor of DesignIntelligence has called LS3P “the most local of the global firms and the most ‘world-class’ of the locals.” They have enjoyed a long legacy of design excellence, with over 490 design awards across diverse practice areas.
Their mission is to “engage, design, and transform.” LS3P believes in collaboration, innovation, and building lasting relationships with their clients, and they are deeply committed to the communities they serve.
“They demonstrated a strong ability to juggle complex requirements, but focus on design excellence and a real awareness of budget and maintainability, both of which are very important for public entities. They think outside the box and look at how do we make this work, and how do we make this work efficiently” said Mark Forestieri of Wake County Facilities Design & Construction.
